These boots are available for sale currently.
I've decided to start naming my boot sizes after some of the donkeys that I have made custom boots for in the past, these are the 'Paulianne'. Paulianne was a grey overweight donkey resucued by Hithger, in Artois, Ca and later re-homed. Her new home had me make her fly boots.
Each pair of fly boots are handmade, in Montana, by me. Inevitably there will be variations in stitching and may not look perfect. And honestly, I'm a little out of practice, I used to produce boots a few years ago. These boots show just that, some of the stitiching spacing is off (thanks to my binding foot being out of adjustment), none of which affect the function of the boots.
Why did I choose these colors?
I started thinking about how flies see color. They obviously love my Daisy more than Rocky, but why? It's because of her color. I researched this more and found that yellow is the least attractive to flies..."A key to making the device effective was the discovery that flies are three times more attracted to the color blue than to yellow and that yellow actually seemed to repel flies." Why wouldn't I make them yellow? I am hoping to make the binding yellow as well.
These are sized medium, they should fit most large standard donkeys. They are ten inches tall and fabric to fabric are 10" in circumference, but can be easily fastened down to 7", absolute minimum circumference is 4.5". Please measure your animal before ordering.
Purchase them with confidence through Etsy, HERE.
Cleaned out the dressing room of the trailer, it was pretty disorganized after our last use. I utilized the Seasuckers to wrangle some of the gear! They're now securing the portable fence, table, chairs and mat in one corner (yes I threw some titan straps in there!) and I made a blanket bar with two on the wall! Now the rain sheets finally have a home! I love these things, yes I want to get more! Such a fast, strong, yet non permanent way to organize such an area. Oh, how awesome would a Seasucker - Titan Strap collaboration be!?!
Rocky & Daisy have their 'first' photoshoot! Yes, they have been apart of some other shoots, but this is the first one where they are front and center! I think they both did fantastic!
They endured numerous grooming sessions, I say this from Daisy's point of view because Rocky LOOOOVES being groomed, unless you bring out the blower. Yes, Daisy endured brushing and Rocky endured a few blower sessions.
When the donkeys have a gig, of any kind, grooming starts DAYS in advance. Donkeys are the sort of animal that the more dirt that is in their coat the more they're 'doing it right'. So, it's a lot of elbow grease and dedication on my part. In the end they come out looking pretty gorgeous! Nothing like some wavy Daisy rump hair shining in the sun!
This shoot went very well, the donkeys did way better than I did ( I was nervous!), but quickly warmed up to the two gals I was working with... I can't share too many details at the moment! But more is to come! Stay tuned!
The donkeys both got new britchens made for everyday use and a new set for their events, both made by me. I wasn't happy with the last set, so they both got upgraded. Huge improvement was going to a larger ring on Daisy's pack saddle, tightening up the latigo is SO much easier.
We are looking for a local beer vendor to be included in our upcoming photoshoot! Please email me at email@example.com to be considered!
Are you a floral designer? Would you like to make the donkeys a crown?

Good morning, I wanted to share that there is a new blog for my art creations like my stamps, drawings, non donk related photography etc, potential artist collaborations! (coming soon!!). I'll also be posting current sewing projects. Check it out HERE. I decided to split this up from the burros, so people who come to read about the burro adventures are not stuck reading about something I made.
Well, it's been a year hasn't it?.... We're definitely still attempting to get back to normal, if that exists anymore...
The donkeys are getting back into shape, they have had quite a lazy summer. They only attended two wedding events, went on maybe ONE hike.....basically they're living the life of great accommodations, lots of love and just being amazingly cute...and treats, lots of good hay and treats.
I have been ramping up my art production in my 'spare' time aka, not working my day job. There are new Elk Pins in the Etsy shop HERE. My artist friend AnnRann made some pins and I loved them and had to make my own.
Ugh, I love them so much. I want to send them to all my friends...
If you'd like one of these bad boys, I will be selling them in person, along with my other wares - tea towels, cards etc...sorry donkeys won't be there, wouldn't that be great!?!
There will also be live music from Peter King and Bodhi Farms fresh produce for sale (basil, kale, spinach, broccoli, peppers, summer squash & more). I am hoping that I can be a regular there, but the date may interfere with my job...(sad face).
We gave away one of these pins over on Instagram, used a really cool new tool to pick a winner... I legit was using paper and a hat before haha!
Now the internet helps.....
Rocky is getting a little tack upgrade, I have not made tack in forever and I'm starting to get back into it. If you'd like to see donkey tack available for sale, leave a comment! Let me know!
a nice set of romel reins in tan paracord, making the 'romel' bit of them today, will get some photos when finished.
Here to share all my donkey related adventures....why? Because they're basically the best thing ever.
