Big Sky Burro is a labor of Donkey Love, I run it myself. Summer is extremely busy for us, most days we don't get into the house until dark. My day job is not Big Sky Burro, but it's still within the service industry. I often work 12+ hr days during this season, if not year round. If you do not receive a response right away, please be patient. If you are booked with me, I have you on the calendar, I will be at your event. Future bookings will be dependent on my day job schedule as it is my primary source of income.
Daisy is a nineteen year old BLM burro. I purchased her from a gal in Rio Linda, CA April of 2009. Her BLM holding pen was Litchfield, near Susanville, CA.
Daisy enjoys outings, she is a very forward and brave donkey. She will do almost anything I ask of her. She responds to pressure very well and can ride/drive in a halter. You know you're 'in' with her when she'll let you cradle and cuddle her head. She is a refined girl and has the cutest little bray.
Rocky 2000 -2025
Rocky crossed rainbow bridge on January 31st, 2025 at 7:40PM
We will miss him dearly.
I originally met Rocky at the Longears Cele'bray'tion put on by the Hole in the Head Gang Equine Rescue, in Artois, CA, I fell in love with him instantly, and he was for sale! Unfortunately at that time in my life I could not afford his purchase price. He was soon bought by a nice couple out in Fairfield, CA. A few years passed and the gal that ran the rescue contacted me, Rocky needed a home. She knew how badly I wanted him prior and called me first. Needless to say I jumped on the opportunity and went and picked him up (2012). It's been an awesome journey with him since.
Unlike Daisy, Rocky LOVES grooming, he'll even get in line for seconds. He's a sweet boy, he can be slightly spooky about water, water bowls and sometimes his own shadow. But he is a quiet and honest donkey.
Keeping large animals (especially in the Gallatin Valley) is not cheap. And helping them cross rainbow bridge is not either. If you would like to help with general care expenses, or contribute to Rocky's passing expenses, please click the donate button below. Thank you so much.
I'm Lacy, I am the proud owner of Rocky and Daisy donkeys. I love sharing with people the true nature of donkeys and hope to make the world just little bit better for them through understanding and education. I absolutely love any time I get to spend with donkeys. They slow you down and remind you to be present.
I am also an artist in my very small amount of free time. I primarily work in graphite, but I have been exploring the world of printmaking and hand caved stamps.
IN TRAINING
TITO is a 2019 BLM Burro who is currently in training. He is a little skittish at the moment but is a true lover when he gets over his fears. He's a big fan of donkey hugs, face kisses and scritches. He is learning all his body control and hoof handling at liberty. You can follow along with his progress on the blog or follow him on IG at Tito_burrito_donk We do not have a timeline of his availability in the future, he is still a very wild boy and not having an indoor facility to train really slows us down when the weather is incompatible.
