Four Mile drive!

Took Daisy on a nice four mile drive in the new harness & wagon.  The wagon was so creaky on the gravel road, but nice and quiet on the pavement.   About halfway back I ran into my neighbor who drives his six percheron horses and he gave me some super helpful tip on what to adjust.

When I got home Daisy had some rubbing on her shoulders from the collar, I looked everything over and realized the singletree hadn't been moving at all! That's probably what did it, so I loosened that up so it can move back and forth easily.  We'll see how the next drive goes, and I'll be checking more frequently for the rubbing!   Rocky did his thing, lol, basically tried to eat the ENTIRE drive! I can't wait to get him in harness and have him help the girl out!

Daisy has a new harness from chimacum tack. This is their farm/work harness in pony size. I sent in measurements for it to be custom fitted. Unfortunately when it arrived, some parts were way to big. The girth was a good 6" too long, it hung below her heartgirth, and the britchen is too long. The gal at Chimacum tack offered to come out and help to get it to fit or I could send it back. I finally had a bit of time to try to adjust it.

Girth- There are two straps that come off of the saddle, I had orginally adjusted thrm to the smallest setting, but they still were too long. I ended up flipping the strap so thr conway could use thr adjustment holes for the top and bottom. This helped quite a bit.

AFTER
I used this same technique to shorten thr rear hip strap and the breast collar tug.

Then I sewed the smallest girth ever...

ORIGINAL GIRTH ON THE LEFT, DIY GIRTH ON THE RIGHT
Then I added a pad and boom! it fits!
I may diy the strap that goes between her legs from the collar, she is very narrow there and Im concerned about the thick strap rubbing the inside of her legs.

I'm so looking forward to using this harness, I hope Daisy is much more comfortable in the collar vs the Breastcollar style.
